Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Kumar Mishra took charge of the Principal's office of Vidyasagar College on 13th December, 2006. He is an academician and administrator, dedicated to building students to lead the nation in the future days.

Dr. Mishra is a post graduate in Botany and Ph.D. in Forest Ecology (FRI, Dehradun), a fellow of Ethnobotanical Society (FES). He has published more than 50 papers and authored seven books.

Dr. Mishra has successfully conducted twelve research projects as principal Investigator with National and International bodies like Ford Foundation, Rufford Small Grants Scheme, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Department of Science and Technology - Government of India, DST - Government of West Bengal, Ministry of Environment and Forestry - Government of India etc.

Dr. Mishra had been a state level coordinator in All India Coordinated projects led by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal.

He has been teaching as a Reader in Botany till November 2006 and joined Vidyasagar College as Principal in December 2006.
